Academic Partnerships

To enhance learning opportunities for students, College of the Atlantic partners with a wide range of institutions and programs. These partnerships complement COA's strengths, giving students a wide range of possibilities as they construct their own curriculum.

Acadia National Park works with COA to provide research, internship and other unparalleled academic opportunities that give students the real-world, hands-on experience that sets COA apart from other undergraduate programs.

The Eco League is a consortium of six colleges across the US that share similar commitments to sustainability. Students at Alaska Pacific University, Northland College, Prescott College, Dickinson College, Green Mountain College and College of the Atlantic may participate in term exchanges that allow them to study in different ecosystems and with a variety of faculty.

COA also has agreements for student exchanges with other institutions including The New School, University of Maine at Orono, Salt Institute for Documentary Studies, National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), and Sea Education Association (SEA).

Here on Mount Desert Island, relationships with the world-renowned Jackson Laboratory, MDI Biological Laboratory and MDI Hospital allow students to take part in cutting-edge biomedical and genetic research as well as experience first-hand how a hospital is run.
