Venue - COA and Bar Harbor

College of the Atlantic

TurretsCollege of the Atlantic (COA) is a small, liberal arts college set on a beautiful 35-acre oceanfront campus in Bar Harbor, Maine overlooking Frenchman Bay. From this remarkable setting we educate the people who will make a better world. All of our programs are embedded in human ecology - an approach that integrates knowledge from all academic disciplines and from personal experience to investigate, and ultimately improve, the relationships between human beings and our social and natural communities.

Our commitment to sustainability is evident throughout our facilities, curricula and programs. In 2007, COA became the nation's first carbon neutral college. In addition to new green buildings, COA has plugged leaks, switched to cfl bulbs and installed a wind turbine.

Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park

Cadillac Mtn SunriseCOA is located on Mount Desert Island, home to the rugged shoreline and granite-domed mountains of Acadia National Park. Visitors can bicycle the carriage trails, kayak through the bays and harbors, visit Sand Beach and Thunder Hole, or choose from 125 miles of hiking trails.

The seaside village of Bar Harbor is just one-half mile from COA's campus and a short distance from the national park. Here visitors will find an array of restaurants, shops, accommodations and amenities.
