Earth Day

Earth Day 2010: Acts of Green
Join College of the Atlantic to celebrate Earth Day 2010. Come enjoy local food, family activities, panel discussions, demonstrations and more.
College of the Atlantic’s Earth Day festival fills the campus with a celebration of all things earthy and sustainable. From the morning arrival of goats and horses to the afternoon’s joyous throwing of colors in observance of Holi, the Indian spring festival colors, Saturday, April 17 will be a delightful reminder that the earth is something to celebrate and cherish.

Events & Activities
Battery Recycling
Bring your typical batteries, known as household dry-cell batteries:
alkaline and carbon zinc (9-volt, D, C, AA, and AAA), mercuric-oxide
(button, some cylindrical and rectangular), silver-oxide, zinc-air
(button), and lithium (9-volt, C, AA, coin, button, and rechargeable).
By recycling them, COA will keep such heavy metals as zinc, lead,
nickel, alkaline, manganese, cadmium, silver, and mercury out of
landfills while also saving resources by reusing materials from each
battery.
COA's Earth Day is Carbon Neutral
For those who can't walk or bike to bicycle to the festival, College
of the Atlantic students will tabulate the distance that each car
drives to Earth Day. COA will offset those emissions.
