Endowed Scholarships

Endowing a scholarship is a way to positively influence generations of students who want to make a difference. Such scholarship funds are a lasting legacy and can be named after one's family, a special place, or as a memorial or an honorific for a loved one.

An endowed scholarship is a fund which has been established for the purpose of providing tuition assistance for a COA student in perpetuity. The principal is not to be invaded; awards are made from endowment earnings.

Endowed scholarships are awarded according to criteria established by the donor working with the development office. Donors can also add to an existing scholarship fund whose objectives are similar to their own. For example, COA has a number of scholarship funds that benefit: Maine students, international students, students interested in the arts, marine sciences, and natural history. To discuss establishing an endowed scholarship, please call the Development Office at 207-288-5015.

The Student Scholarship Endowment Fund was endowed with the generous support from: The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and Silver Anniversary Endowment gifts for scholarships.
