Activities for our youngest campers take place on College of the Atlantic's ocean front campus. The gardens, wooded spots, shoreline, and museum all provide great resources for exploring.

tiny wonders

summ prog Open your senses and imagination to the magical and tiny wonders of the natural world. Follow insects under logs and search the intertidal for hidden sea creatures. Learn how to tread lightly like a sand piper, build a cocoon like a monarch and sprout a tiny seed. Each day will be themed around a certain habitat, animal or plant, so dive in and deepen your understanding of the world around you. Enjoy stories, games, crafts and songs too!

Down by the bay

summer programs Bring your bathing suit and binoculars to explore what critters and treasures you may find along our rocky shore. Learn about the world beneath the waves through stories, projects, games and songs. Make works of art with seaweed and seashells and find creatures amidst the pools of the intertidal, while taking a dip in Frenchman Bay and enjoying our beautiful coastline.

seed to sprout

What does it take to make a seed sprout? A garden grow? Roll up your sleeves, grab a trowel, and come learn about the magic that happens when you combine seeds, sun, soil, water, worms, and a little love. Plant seeds, harvest fresh vegetables, and observe the interesting insects that help the SFS garden grow. Create beautiful portable gardens, fairy houses and artwork; make tasty recipes, sing songs, play games, and explore what grows in the forest, fields and at the seashore!

color collectors

Set your sights on the vibrant colors and patterns found all around you--the wings of a bird, the scales of a fish, the crystals in granite, and the petals of a flower. Head down to the beach, into the forest, and through the garden to discover the rainbow of plants and animals that don brilliant hues and consider why this helps them survive. Be inspired to paint, tell stories, collect treasures, and play games!
