GIS Facilities


The GIS Lab has a full-time director who teaches and supports classes and research projects. Hired in 1993, Gordon Longsworth, COA 91’ and the PENN Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning, 92’, was a lead student in the establishment of the lab. At the University of Pennsylvania, he studied under environmental pioneer Ian McHarg and GIS pioneers, Dr. Jon Radke and Dr. C. Dana Tomlin.

The GIS Lab is a dedicated workspace located in the Arts and Sciences building in the central part of campus. The lab has an ESRI University Site License which provides access to a full range of industry-standard software and data. This level of licensing ensures that students are experienced in the most current technology and methods.The lab has 10 workstations each with a full range of GIS and support software.
