Opening Reception
Sam Van Aken: Eden
Ethel H. Blum Gallery

Inspired by 19th century French botanist, Alexandre Bivorts Album of Pomologie, artist Sam Van Aken has constructed a playful installation: a fully operational laboratory, albeit a bizarre one in which real things are growing . . . out of control. Sam Van Aken teaches at Syracuse University and is the 2008 Maine Arts Commission Visual Arts Fellow of the Year. The opening reception will be followed by a talk by the artist at 6 p.m. in the Gates Community Center.

August 13 from 5 to 9 p.m.
