"Being at COA is not about being a student to be filled with knowledge by a professor. It's about my seeking knowledge."

Color: Materials and Techniques - AD351

Meets the following requirements: AD

This is a studio course in which we will explore color using various media including colored paper, watercolor paint, gouache, oil paints and tempera. In the first week the class will make collages with colored paper and in the next three weeks we will concentrate on exercises that explore the nature and interaction of color in all four media.  In the last weeks students will work on self portraits, landscapes, and still lives that emphasize the symbolical and expressive use of  color.  Various techniques will be employed to minimize drawing time so that the focus remains on color.  Class size limited to 10.  Permission of instructor only.  Students who have worked in one of the above media or who have taken several art and design classes will be given preference.   Evaluations will be based on attendance, class participation and the final portfolio of completed work.

Level:  Intermediate/Advanced.  Lab fee: $75.  *AD*
