French Conversation and Applications - HS609

This course focuses on intermediate and advanced skills in verb use, idiom, and vocabulary, with the goal of improving proficiency in spoken and written forms of the language. It also includes strategies for developing linguistic skills directly related to projects that students are interested in pursuing in French-speaking environments. This course presupposes competence in the simple tenses and a basic vocabulary.  While the course focuses on speaking and understanding French, it will also include practice in reading and writing.  Class activities will include small- and large-group discussions, student presentations, and role-play and simulation activities, as well as form-based practice of grammar and vocabulary as appropriate. Students will be evaluated on individual progress, with demonstration of progress to be based on class participation, exams, individual and group projects, and short papers to be written in French.

Level: Intermediate/Advanced.  Lab Fee $10.  Class limit 15.
