Special Topics in Museum Exhibition - AD389

This course will offer students a behind the scenes opportunity to develop skills and techniques used in the design, fabrication and installation of multimedia exhibitions.  For the fall 2000 term, course work will primarily focus on the development and production of an exhibit on Maine's endangered species, which will debut in the college's Museum of Natural History and then travel to locations throughout Maine.  Some of the major areas to be covered are developing and producing interactive components, building and installing exhibit casework and other  special purpose display pieces, designing and producing graphic panels, and preparing dioramas for display.  Other topics of student's choice will also be considered.

Level:  Intermediate.  Prerequisites:  Background in graphic design, 3-D, or architectural design, or
Creating Educational Exhibits or a Museum Practicum course.  Signature of Instructor. 
Class limit: 8.
