Healing Deconstruction - HS448

Meets the following requirements: HS   

The negative impact of Jacques Derrida's method of linguistic investigation, known as "deconstruction" having run its course, is currently being used to investigate the area of religion with exciting and fruitful results. This seminar examines the interaction of various trends in post-modernist thought and feminism with contemporary analyses of Buddhism, Hinduism and Christianity.This is an advanced seminar which requires participation in class discussions and a term research or analytic paper.

Level: Advanced.  Prerequisites: some previous work in philosophy. Recommended: familiarity with post-modernism and/or the thought of Jacques Derrida.
