Family Nature Camp

Summer 2008 - 5 Sessions:  
June 22-28, July 6-12, **July 13-19, **July 20-26, **July 27-August 2 (**3rd, 4th and 5th  weeks are booked)

Looking toward Sand Beach from Otter Cliffs

Paddle out to a seal-covered rock with your 10-year-old. Dip your hand into the warmth of a tidepool with your 7-year-old. Share the fun of nature exploration and learning in one of the nation's most beautiful locations - College of the Atlantic's Family Nature Camp, located between the Atlantic Ocean and the mountains of Acadia National Park. Featured on Good Morning America and ranked among the top five family camps in the U.S. by Family Fun Magazine, at Family Nature Camp you and your children will delight in the wonder and adventure of the outdoors with the help of experienced teachers and naturalists.

Field trips include a variety of fun and educational activities

  • Get wet and have fun exploring tide pools
  • Learn about tracking animals and create tracks to take home
  • Enjoy Dive-In Theater, a boat trip that takes you on a journey to the bottom of the sea without ever getting wet
  • Venture into the Gulf of Maine on a whale watch
  • Spot bald eagles, porpoises, seals and seabirds on a nature cruise
  • Take a field ecology hike in Acadia National Park
  • Other highlights of Family Nature Camp include optional sea kayak tours and a lobster dinner. 
  • Returning Families - New activities include a sail on a four-masted schooner, a narrated nature cruise to the offshore fishing village of Frenchboro, and new and different self-guided hikes, walks, tours and activities suggested by program coordinators.
