An Overview:
The goal of this project was to create a map that shows the distribution of the Society for Human Ecology members. The map is a tool that can be used by the Society for Human Ecology (SHE) members. Members can use the map to further understand diversity within the organization and as a means of furthering networking and communication among human ecologists the world over. Data was collected from an electronic data-base kept and maintained by Barbara Carter, Executive Assistant of the Society for Human Ecology. The final layout includes views of the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, New England, Maine, and the World. The map shows a color scale gradient to indicate graphically where the higher concentrations of SHE members are located and there are also numerical indicators, organized by state, for the US. The United States also has the unique feature of showing a higher degree of spatial information in the form of the zip codes of either the individual members or the institutions they belong to. The map is an informative representation of SHE membership around the world.

Map Summary:
This map shows SHE membership distribution between the years of 1995-2006 throughout the world with a focus on the United States. The United States is grayed out in the world map because it is dealt with separately in its own maps.
