Early Bird Walk
Session helps visitors identify birds by sight and sound
George B. Dorr Museum of Natural History

Who's back? Can you see them? What do they sound like? College of the Atlantic's George B. Dorr Museum of Natural History Yellow Warbler by Norm Talbotcontinues its spring series of workshops on Saturday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to noon with Early Birds, a bird walk around campus. Students in ornithology and ecology will be leading this birding session. Join them to see who is around, and to gain some expertise in recognizing birds by sight and sound.

Gregory Smith, a second-year student at the college, will be leading the walk with COA student Taj Schottland. Smith, who hails from Queens, NY, worked with ornithological experts at the Bronx Zoo for four years. Since coming to COA, he's been doing a lot of walking around Acadia National Park to learn how the birds of Maine differ from those of New York and Long Island.

Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children and museum members. Bring binoculars if you have them. Pre-registration is appreciated, call 288-5395. For more information, call Lynn Havsall at the Dorr Museum at 288-5015 ext. 238.
