Summer is almost here, but there are still a few spots open in College of the Atlantic's Summer Field Studies
 for Children day camp. Give your child the joy of spending one or two weeks of the summer exploring the natural wonders of Mount Desert Island with environmental educators-mixing knowledge of natural science with hands-on exploration, fun-filled activities and games.
Older kids can join in the fun with our programs for seventh to ninth graders: "Wetland and Marine Ecology" gives students the chance to step into the shoes of marine biologists as they explore and learn about these rich ecosystems incorporating canoe trips and service learning with local conservation projects. In "Edible Exploration," students discover the many ways that humans get the food that nourishes us. Help out on local farms and feast on fresh vegetables, gather wild berries and make delicious treats and learn about the food from the ocean that has sustained people in Maine for thousands of years. Other programs include "Wild Night Life" in the evenings and "Ecology Treks," happening all over the island.
Kids entering third and fourth grade can still sign up for "From Forest to Sea" and explore MDI's diverse habitats, from the top of the mountains to the crashing waves of the shoreline and meet the creatures that live there. Fifth and sixth graders can enter "Water: Source to Sea" and discover aquatic habitats and how we can help protect them. The old favorite, "Art and Nature" is also making a comeback this summer but is filling up fast!
