Saturday, March 15, 2008 - George B. Dorr Museum of Natural History
With Easter but a week away, eggs are on many minds. College of the Atlantic's George B. Dorr Museum of Natural History is
offering a special Wild Bird Eggs Workshop on Saturday, March 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. using the museum's amazing array of wild bird eggs as models.
By dyeing, speckling, spattering and calligraphing marks on chicken eggs, you will be able to recreate the special beauty of crow, blackbird, gull and eider eggs, with their lovely shades of blue, green and various browns. While painting, COA student Emily Durost will talk about how eggshells get their colors and marks, and how they are adapted to their particular environment.
The Wild Bird Eggs session concludes the Dorr Museum's winter workshop series.
Admission is $5 for adults; $2 for children and museum members. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call the Dorr Museum at 288-5395 or 288-5015 ext. 238.
Jamus Drury's poster of wild bird eggs will be on sale at the Dorr Museum.
