Edina Hot '08 has focused on biology, chemistry, physics, math and the natural sciences, working as a student assistant at both
the Jackson Lab and the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory.
She hopes to study pharmacology or a similar science to research the effect of new drugs on inflammation, aging, tuberculosis and HIV and spent a year volunteering at the Jackson Lab, under the supervision of Dr. Nicholson, assisting in a pilot project on cage density. She also conducted ssessments of cardiovascular functions and bone density measurements in mice.
Edina comes to COA from Montenegro, via the Red Cross Nordic United World College. She says, "I chose COA because of the freedom that it gives to its students. I wanted a place where I can take good natural science courses, as well as courses such as Feminism and Fundamentalism, or World Religions. COA works great for me because I can involve my brain in physics problems, as well as problems of gender and religion, and always be active and engaged!" See more testimonials |
