Bonface Omudi '09 came do COA from the Simon Bolivar United World College of Venezuela. There he studied agricultural science,
which he's continuing at COA, along with classes in agricultural issues and rural development theories.
Bonface is originally from Kenya. He knows the struggles of a land-based economy. He hopes to go to go to graduate school to continue exploring agricultural issues, rural sociology and development. Ultimately, he hopes to work with international organizations to promote agriculture and endorse food security programs. "I also want to work with the governments of developing countries to support farmers to ensure reliable rural development. Most important, though, I want to become a well-educated farmer"
His most inspiring course was Suzanne Morse's "Practicum: Getting our Food from Farm to Fork." "It provided me with profound insights to challenge the success and predominance of industrial agriculture in food production and distribution around the world," says Bonface. "We had deep discussions on what it means to support a local producer and what it takes to provide a baseline for healthy and socially just practices in food systems."
"The learning environment forces you to question the other side of the coin."
