AQUATIC ODYSSEY
Two-week session (8 days):
 Residents $280/ Non-residents $310
June 30th - July 10th (no camp on the 4th of July)
Discover the wonders of plant and animal life in the aquatic ecosystems of Mount Desert Island. Wade in freshwater ponds in search of young dragonflies, observe periwinkles, crabs and sea urchins in tidepools, find the treasures of marshes and follow streams to unveil the water cycle. Join in fun games and crafts, too.
FROM FOREST TO SEA
Two-week session (9 days): Residents $315/ Non-residents $350
July 14th through July 24th
Journey through the diverse habitats from alpine summits to the coastline of Mount Desert Island, including the ponds, woods and gardens in between. Follow a stream, dip into wetlands, investigate the forest floor and canopy. Compare the differences in the habitats you encounter and observe the unique ways species are adapted to live in their particular home. Games, songs and fun will complement each day.
MYSTERIES OF THE PLANT WORLD
Five-day session: residents $175 / non-residents $200
July 28th - August 1st
Explore the plant communities of the ocean, salt marsh, gardens and mountain tops of Mount Desert Island. Investigate plants' intricate relationships with the animal inhabitants around them. Dissect a flower, meet carnivorous species, observe fierce competition between trees. Identify wild edibles and learn how humans have used plants in crafts, teas, tools and toys. Games, activities and some tasty treats will fill out the days.
ART and NATURE
Two-week session (9-days): Residents $315/ Non-residents $350
August 4th - 14th
Be inspired by artists through out the ages and use natural objects to make art. Artistic opportunities are endless as we explore Mount Desert Island. Whether sculpting with sand, printing with seaweeds, using water colors to paint a landscape or crafting a haiku, we'll have loads of opportunity to explore different habitats and keenly observe the plants and animals there. Games, songs, and fun will fill out each day.
We recommend that students not sign up for more than two sessions so we can provide these outdoor experiences to a broader group. However, if a child would like to attend additional sessions, we will happily place them on the waiting list and invite them to join us if space is available 30 days prior to the camp session.
