"Being at COA is not about being a student to be filled with knowledge by a professor. It's about my seeking knowledge."

Transcripts

A College of the Atlantic transcript consists of two parts: 1) A coversheet that lists the courses taken, credits attempted, and credits earned.  2) The course descriptions, written evaluations, and written self-evaluations.  Summer graduate student transcripts consist of a coversheet only.

The coversheet alone can be sealed as an official COA transcript.  However, many students request a "full transcript" that includes an entire set of course descriptions and written evaluations.

To order an official transcript, students and former students must submit a signed Transcript Release Form ; a signed letter or note requesting the transcript will also be accepted.  The Transcript Release Form should be submitted to:  Registrar, 105 Eden Street, Bar Harbor, ME  04609.  It may be faxed to:  Attention Registrar at 207-288-2947.

Please keep in mind that transcripts generally take from seven to ten days to process after receipt of the release form.  All requests for transcripts must be pre-paid in full (cash, check, money order, and major credit cards accepted).  Coversheet transcripts are $5 for the first copy and $2 for each additional copy; full transcripts are $10 for the first copy and $5 for each additional copy.  Note that transcripts will not be released if a student has an overdue bill in the Business Office and/or the Library.

Grades and written evaluations are routinely distributed to students approximately one month after the end of a term.  Students have access to their own files in the Registrar's Office during regular office hours.  In keeping with policies under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, the college requires the student's release in writing before opening educational records to third parties.
