Getting here:

It took leaving Maine for me to truly fall in love with COA. I grew up in Blue Hill, Maine, about an hour from campus. COA seemed like the choice that was too close, too safe, and too small. However, when I took a semester off from traditional high school to study in Northern California, I was able to gain a new perspective. I realized that my “college checklist” had many overlapping philosophies and criteria that COA has. I was able to separate this by leaving the area to appreciate both the physical location and the values that COA has to offer.

Favorite class:

Public Speaking. This class pushed my limits in the best ways. I learned so much about myself as a speaker and a communicator. I am glad that I took this class at the beginning of my college career, because the skills and confidence I developed have helped in classes I have taken following it.

Activities, traditions, celebrations:

I love my work study job in Admissions. In addition to work, I swim, play a lot of water polo, and am an avid Uno Club member.

Passions & motivations:

Microplastic pollution and general marine debris; understanding the way we interact with each other and the world

Best meal on campus:

Best smoothie on campus: raspberry, mango, almond milk, yogurt.

COA might be the right college for you if...

..you can’t decided between gender studies, biology, art, and psychology.
