An introductory contemporary dance class with focus on personal expression through movement and compositional techniques. Beginning with an awakening yoga warm-up, classes will explore the body’s range of motion and exercise both long and short-term memory. Students will develop a basic understanding of the craft of choreography, explore various methods to create movement while gaining a sense of their own aesthetic preferences. Over the ten-week course, the group will collectively create a new piece of choreography. Evaluation will be based on demonstrated engagement with all course activities and materials as well as successful completion of all course assignments. Students of all levels welcome.
