First and Second Grade

First and Second Grade

Activities for our youngest campers take place on College of the Atlantic's ocean front campus. The gardens, wooded spots, shoreline, and museum all provide great resources for exploring.

Nature's Neighborhoods

summ prog Take a stroll around nature’s neighborhoods and get to know how and why animals build their homes where they do, from the ever-changing intertidal, to the treetops of the forest, to the grassy wetlands, and rushing streams. Build forts, nests and burrows, as we explore what habitats are and how they suit species in different ways. Games, art and songs, too!

June 23 – June 27
5-Day Session: $240 Local / $275 Non-Local

seed to sprout

What does it take to make a seed sprout? A garden grow? Roll up your sleeves, grab a trowel, and come learn about the magic that happens when you combine seeds, sun, soil, water, worms, and a little love. Plant seeds, harvest fresh vegetables, and observe the interesting insects that help the SFS garden grow. Create beautiful portable gardens, fairy houses and artwork; make tasty recipes, sing songs, play games, and explore what grows in the forest, fields and at the seashore!

Forest Friends

Venture down to the woods to visit with the creatures wriggling in the leaf litter, perched on branches, and hopping here and there. Come with an observant eye, as we explore the mushrooms, moss, rocks, and plants that live on the forest floor and make crafts to accompany them. Build fairy houses, make bark prints, play games, find food caches, and be enchanted by the forest friends we meet.
