Fish Passages

By Philip Young   Spring 2007

Fish passages:
The map that I have created is an assessment of fish passages on MDI. Salt water fish that spawn in fresh water are potentially impeded by culverts, dams, and bridges. The project being undertaken by the Acadia National Park Service is to fix the culverts that reduce fish habitat, and maximize the gain of habitat. I have also included the canopy cover as it allows an ideal temperature for spawning.

Map Summary:
I worked closely on this project with Loraine Navarro who is an intern with the National Park service. She provided me with data that was gathered in the feild, and we met to disguss her expectations. To organize the data I used the culverts as breaking points along the streams, and gave them values according to the length of each segment.
