An Overview: The two maps I created represent an area of Montana just outside of Bozeman. The Flying D Ranch is a Turner Enterprises Incorporated property with 113,000 acres of land. Its focuses are buffalo herd management, wolf recovery, and the reintoduction of westslope cutthroat trout. A new study is underway to determine the populations and densities of resident amphibians. Surveys will take place on the ranch in order to retrieve base data regarding the amphibians. The maps below provide a sense of place for the ranch. Landmarks such as water towers and fencing act as reference points for surveyors in the field. Map Summary 1: Green Ranch is a sub-ranch of the Flying D property. It is approximately 16,000 acres and is seperated from the main ranch by the Madison River. Use the legend to determine what the various landmarks are.
