As a prospective transfer student we're guessing you are looking for different qualities in a school than a first year student might. Perhaps you've read about the self-directed learning opportunities at COA, our small classes, or our laid-back atmosphere. Or did you hear about the confidence we have in our students to help run the school, actively participate in classes, and change the world in their own distinct ways?
Whatever brought you here in your search for your next college, we know as you continue on the tour and learn about our programs, student life and campus you'll find COA to be a unique place.
PAGE 2
One aspect of this uniqueness is COA's small size of 280 students. If you've spent the last year or two at a large university, feeling invisible in huge lecture halls with 300 other people, you may find this number very appealing. Or perhaps you've been at another small school and would like to continue having professors who know your name and have time to meet with you one-on-one.
If you've been yearning for class discussions and a campus you don't get lost on, you've come to the right place. The student to faculty ratio at COA is 10:1 and the average class size is 15. Here it's impossible to be just a face in the crowd.

Creative, self-motivated students come to us from 35 states and 33 foreign countries and over 20% of them are transfer students. They bring with them an enthusiasm for learning and their unique perspectives of the world.
Our students defy labels and stereotypes, redefining today's expectations for college students: they are engaged in what is happening around them, they are active rather than passive learners and problem solvers, and they are letting their passions determine what they will do when they graduate.

This opportunity to follow your passions and determine your academic path requires you to ponder some important questions: What do you want to accomplish, both socially and academically? What do you believe in? What do you want to put into and take from the world?
At COA we believe education isn't about training you to be just a marine biologist, a history teacher, or a graphic designer; it's about teaching you to be an open, perceptive, well informed citizen of the world.
