Student working with a stranded seal pupMany transfer students come to us out of frustration with their school's rigid major system. They want to be a marine biologist, but they also want to be able to take painting and photography classes to explore the ocean from a different angle. Or they are struggling to name a major they've created in their head that combines science, economics and history. If this sounds familiar then you've found your college.

Student hanging painting in the Blum GalleryHere students create their own course of study, some taking an incredibly varied course load all four years and some choosing to focus intensely on one discipline. All students are required to take classes in our three resource areas: Arts and Design, Environmental Science, and Human Studies.

Students may transfer a maximum of 18 credits to COA (the equivalent of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours). If you have questions about how your credits will transfer, we've included contact information at the end of the tour.
