Ballroom Thieves

Michelle Miesse wrote about the trio on the blog Grateful Web: “The Ballroom Thieves. Maybe you haven’t heard of this band – I hadn’t until I received the album. But that’s okay…this band is going to be around for a while so you’ll get your chance.” Here is your chance to see them live!

According to their press kit, the Ballroom Thieves, stylistically, “finds a captivating mélange of acoustic styles, blending folk conventions with modern hymnals, delta blues grit with rich harmonies, exploring the basic constructions of pop music while almost wholeheartedly rejecting its restrictions at the same time.”

The band is comprised of Martin Earley (Guitar/Vocals), Devin Mauch  (Percussion/Vocals), and Calin Peters – (Cello/Vocals). Ballroom Thieves has put out two EPs since they formed in 2011. Their first, The Devil & The Deep released in 2012. The band’s second, released October 4, 2013 is a self-titled EP with only four cuts.  A third is due out this year, entitled A Wolf in the Doorway.

The Boston-based duo, Tall Heights, is coming for COA’s Coffee House on Tuesday, February 24 to play at 8PM in the Les Brewer Great Hall of Turrets. A COA favorite, Tall Heights is a folk duo with vocals, cello, and acoustic guitar.  Public welcome.
