Parents are welcome at this event.
College of the Atlantic invites you and your parents to an informative and enjoyable visit to campus. You will have the opportunity to tour the campus, to sit in on classes, spend the night on campus, eat in the dining halls and speak with faculty and students about the college. This program is designed to offer prospective students a comprehensive view of COA's unique learning environment. Admission interviews will be offered during your visit.
A tentative schedule of events can be found here. A more detailed schedule will be given when students and families arrive to campus.
Your parents are encouraged to come and enjoy the COA Fall Tour, although we cannot provide their lodging. A listing of motels and hotels is available here.

Admitted Student ReceptioN: April 13-14, 2014
College of the Atlantic invites you and your parents to attend our
Admitted Student Reception, April 13–14, 2014. While here, you will have
the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities, attend classes,
and talk with faculty, staff, and students. Also, this is a great chance
to meet your future classmates. As part of the event, you'll choose one
of the following activities:
Beech Hill Farm — Spend a few hours getting your hands dirty and helping our farmers ready the farm for planting. Chores might include doing maintenance work on the perennial garden, making potting soil, or repairing the greenhouses.
Canoe Northeast Creek — Paddle the Northeast Creek estuary with current students and staff. COA will provide the canoes, paddles, and life jackets; you bring shoes for walking in the bog. We will teach you the basics of canoeing if you are a beginner.
Sand Beach/Great Head Hike — Play Frisbee on the beach or take a hike along the Great Head trail to get a better view of the island.
Compass Harbor — Join COA students for a walk along the Compass Harbor trail. This relatively flat trail has beautiful views of Bar Harbor's breakwater as well as a secluded rocky cove. We may also wander along the Shore Path and through downtown Bar Harbor before heading back to campus.
Meals will be served in the college’s Blair Dining Hall and students will spend Sunday night in the residence halls. Please be sure to bring a sleeping bag and pillow. You will need to arrange your own transportation to and from the college. However, with advance notice we can pick you up at the Bar Harbor Airport, (which is serviced by Cape Air), Bangor International Airport, or one of the Bangor bus stations — Concord Trailways or Greyhound. If you are planning to drive, directions can be found on the visit page.

Remember to let us know your choice of a Sunday field trip, your
dietary preferences and restrictions, the names of those accompanying
you and if you would like to meet with the Director of Financial Aid to
review your aid package.
Presidential Scholars Fall Fly-In Program: October 2-5, 2014

For High School Seniors
Each year COA selects a handful of students to receive our presidential scholarship. This honor carries with it a merit-based
scholarship that recognizes your academic achievement and contributions
you've made to your community. If you have a passion for learning and a
strong desire to create change, you could be an ideal student for COA
and a candidate for the presidential scholarship. The first step in
being considered for this scholarship is attending our Fall Fly-In
event. If you are interested in attending, you must apply to
We invite you to apply to become part of our Presidential Scholars
Fall Fly-In Program, a four-day visit to the college where you will see
for yourself how a COA education works. If selected for this program, we
will cover the cost of your trip to the college and provide meals and
housing while you are on campus.
We will contact you in early August to let you know if you’ve been selected to participate in the Fall Fly-In Program. We will then work with you to make travel arrangements for your visit to campus.
If you are not chosen to participate, please understand that this is a highly selective program. It does not mean that we do not think you are a good candidate for COA. Many students who have applied for the Fall Fly-In are not selected but still apply to COA, are admitted, and become stellar members of the community. All students admitted to COA are eligible to receive both merit-based and need-based financial aid. Students are not required to participate in the Fall Fly-In program in order to be considered for a presidential scholarship.
