Become a mentor

Your knowledge, skills, experiences, and insights are invaluable to fellow human ecologists who are making decisions about their future. As a mentor for COA students and fellow alumni you can answer questions about your work, offer employment, or even house an intern who volunteers in your area. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, contact Jill Barlow-Kelley, 207-801-5633.

Volunteer with admissions

Prospective students often gain a deeper understanding of what comprises a COA education when they connect with someone who has experienced it firsthand. Alumni Admission Volunteers assist the Office of Admission in attracting bright, creative, passionate students. If you are interested in representing COA at college fairs, interviewing prospective students, or speaking with parents of applicants, please contact Heather Albert-Knopp ’99, 207-801-5640.

Join the Alumni Association Board

Governance and committee work didn’t end after the last ACM you attended!  Working with the Alumni Relations and Development Office, the Alumni Association Board provides advice and support for activities that build the alumni network. In addition to meeting quarterly, members support the college’s fundraising goals and serve as ambassadors for COA. Interested alumni should contact alumnirelations@coa.edu.

Become a Regional Rep

Regional Reps serve as connectors between COA and the great wide world. As a Regional Rep you can organize local meetups, reach out to alumni in your area to find out what others are doing, advise Admissions on area schools that might have students interested in COA, and work with the Alumni Office on other engagement activities such as Degree of Difference events. Regional Reps also serve on the Alumni Association Board to provide valuable feedback and strategic advice so we can successfully keep an open line with alumni. Below are the areas where Regional Reps are needed most:

  • New York, NY
  • Portland, ME
  • Boston, MA
  • Washington, DC
  • San Francisco, CA
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Pacific Northwest Region (WA, OR, ID, MT, WY)
  • Chicago, IL
  • CT, NH, VT
  • MDI/Downeast Maine

If you are interested in being a Regional Rep for your area, contact the Alumni Relations Office.
