College of the Atlantic president Darron Collins ’92 speaks with ABC7/Fox22 about sustainable initiatives at the school. COA receives high marks from the Princeton Review's 2017 "Best 381 Colleges" for integrating sustainability into the curriculum.

Students attending the school are learning how to build solar panels, sustain energy and how to compost. But the curriculum does not just stay on campus. Students are assigned to work with different businesses.

“We want them to be able to go into the community and to future jobs and their lives and be advocates for change,” said Anna Demeo, the Director of Energy Education and Management, “They need a certain skill set to be effective change makers in the future.”

“It’s important to try to be bring a lot of things that we are doing on campus around sustainability to the community,” said Laura Berry, a senior at the school.
