Lisa Bjerke ’13 will describe the experience she had during her year-long Thomas J. Watson Fellowship in a presentation entitled “It is a Waste to call it Waste”.  Her Watson year was an exploration into what humans consider trash and what they consider a resource, and some of the potential characteristics distinguishing them. Tuesday’s presentation will be a personal reflection of her time in Germany, India, China, and Japan, in comparison to her time in Maine and her native Sweden. The talk is at 4:10 in the McCormick Lecture Hall. All Human Ecology Forums are free and open to the public.

Bjerke is an alumna of COA who came back to the college in the fall of 2014 to execute a week long discarded resource audit of the main campus. She is now pursuing master’s studies at COA and investigating the institution’s discarded resources practices.
