Getting here:

I came to COA with the dream of becoming a marine biologist. During my gap year, I realized that I was unfit for writing scientific journals for the rest of my life. After several existential crises during my first winter in COA, I discovered my lost interest in creative design through classes with Dru Colbert and Isabel Mancinelli!

Favorite class:

Even though I took my first art class, 3-D Studio, to meet my art requirements, I was willingly sucked into the realm of creative design. I never turned back after that.

Since then, some of my favourite classes includes (and not limited to) Activating Spaces: Installation Art, Architectural Design Studio, Sustainable Design in the Built Environment, Community Planning and Decision Making, Animation II, and Introductory Entomology

My approach to human ecology:

Creative Design + Communications + Critical Thinking + Systems + Sustainability = Human Ecology

Internship:

I spent my summer working for GO Logic, an architecture firm in Belfast, ME. It was one of the best summers I have ever had! I can’t wait to work in this field after graduating!

Senior project:

I plan to design new student housing for COA!

Activities, traditions, celebrations:

Committing in the year-long training to become a sea kayaking leader for an OOPs trip was completely worth it! Some of my best memories and best friends came from the OOPs trip I led in the Summer of my second year.

Passions & motivations:

Why are cars still the dominant form of transportation in this country???

Adventures yet to come:

As a member of the building committee, I am very excited to see where our new academic building, the Center for Human Ecology, is going to take us! I look forward to seeing a lasting structure that will combine humans with our surrounding environments and with each other.
