Goals for this workshop-type class include: giving the student a better understanding of writing as process, improving vocabulary, learning English grammar, improving understanding of sentence and paragraph structure, and improving reading comprehension. In addition to regular class meetings, students must also meet regularly with a writing tutor for approximately three hours a week. Writing assignments may be based on papers done for other classes. At the end of the term, students must turn in a portfolio which includes all exercises and all drafts of papers. Evaluation will be based on overall improvement in vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and writing.
