Getting here:

When I was in high school in Armenia and not sure where to go after I finished my studies, my roommate from Italy told me that if I decided to apply to colleges in the United States, I needed to apply to COA. He told me that he knew people there and they loved it. He said to me that it was the only college or university in the US that he could see me fitting in. I read about COA and loved that the human ecology major would allow me to design my own curriculum. I could not stop thinking about it, and decided to immediately start my application. My roommate was completely right!

My approach to human ecology:

Sustainable businesses, economics, education, and technology.

Passions & motivations:

I am passionate about making new friends, talking to people and learning from their experiences. I love sharing and discussing our similarities and differences. I really love walking, biking, and cross country skiing. The outdoors is my second home. My biggest motivation comes from my friends but especially my family who is always there to support me to “luchar por mis sueños.”

Adventures yet to come:

With COVID-19, everything is unknown. But I’m hoping to return to COA whenever possible. I’d love to find an internship to spend next summer in Bar Harbor.

Best meal on campus:

Anything with seafood or meat.

COA might be the right college for you if...

You would love to experience a way of learning with people who have different perspectives, mentalities, values and ways of thinking—but also have a common wish of building a sustainable world.
