Fall 2020 - Data Science I, F&F Biology, Human eco core course.

Winter 2021- Intro to stats, CPL Bio, Jazz Rock & Blues.

Favorite class:

Biology :)

My approach to human ecology:

As far as it being my first year, I have a limited understanding of what Human Ecology is although I am very curious and enlightened in what I have learned so far.

To my two and a half terms worth of understanding, Human Ecology is how myself and others can relate their field of interest to many different subjects, and how everything is connected in one way or another.

So far, I am really liking this interconnected-ness.

Activities, traditions, celebrations:

My hobbies include but are not limited to,

Saving Seeds, gushing about plants and how cool they are, performance hula hooping, gardening, chatting with professors, painting, drawing, sculpting with clay, wood-burning, gaming on my PS4, jewelry making, cooking, fermenting/pickling food, gazing at nature, hiking, camping and more!

Passions & motivations:

I love Saving Seeds! I am Native American and really enjoy making hominy and masa and all kinds of Native American foods. I also love practicing Native American Traditions such as powwow footwork and gardening techniques such as three sisters planting and saving seed + corn braiding. One thing that has been a major motivator for me is coming from a low income background, I took care of myself for most of my life and knew that I needed to make a better life for myself, ever since before middle school I knew I needed to work hard through school to have a better life. Hard work and determination pays off, find your motivation

Adventures yet to come:

All things camping and relatedness to the above hobbies.

Best meal on campus:

Salmon <3_<3

COA might be the right college for you if...

You want to challenge yourself in many different aspects such as socially, academically, physically, and mentally.

as far as Fall of 2020-Spring of 2021, It’s my first year and I’ve already been challenged in all of these aspects but in very rewarding ways.
