I am Cass, a science writing tutor at COA for almost four years. Making science more accessible to the public is my passion. I primarily help with science writing assignments, scientific posters, or presentations; however, I am here to help with any writing and all parts of the writer’s process. I have written science stories for the MDI Biological Laboratory and MDI Islander, so I also have experience writing for nonprofits and with journalistic writing.

I came to COA, like many, under the impression I wanted to be a scientist. But one day, I thought, will I dedicate my life to writing technical papers on discoveries only for those stories to be inaccessible to the broader public? What really drives me? Although scientists are constantly increasing academic and industry knowledge, often, the public gets left behind—I want to help bridge the gap between scientists and the public.
