How to get your project funded, living on a remote island, England, and rowing

Before COA

I moved to Maine in 1994 to attend COA. My M.Phil focus was Resource Sensitive Tourism in partnership with Friends of Acadia and Acadia National Park. After graduating in 1997, I couldn’t see a good reason to leave MDI. I worked in development for island nonprofits including the MDI Bio Lab, Friends of Acadia, and Gary Friedmann & Associates.

From 2006-2017 my husband George and I lived in Cambridge, England, where I worked in development for the Wildlife Trust and Fauna & Flora International. I was also the environmental grants officer for the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation in London. I’ve served tea to Prince Charles, and enjoyed being staff liaison to Stephen Fry, Sir David Attenborough, and Sir John Major.

I’m excited to be back at COA again, and I look forward to identifying new funding opportunities for the school and for special projects developed by students, staff, and faculty. Please stop by my office in Turrets to talk about it!
