Getting here:

I got a pamphlet in the mail from COA and thought it looked really interesting. After looking more in depth to the school I really liked the non-traditional college way and the small campus and class sizes. I really enjoyed coming to campus and the atmosphere at orientation and onward.

Classes

The classes I’ve taken so far at COA are, Marine Biology, Human Ecology Core Course, Calculus 1, Biology Cellular Processes of Life, Chemistry 1, Intro to Sexual Health, Wildlife Ecology, Biology Form and Function, and Musicianship. I hope to shape my curriculum to fulfill the prerequisites for vet school.

Favorite class:

My favorite class has been Wildlife Ecology with John Anderson because of the hands on experience I gained out in the field.

My approach to human ecology:

Biology + Field Science + Music = Human Ecology

Internship:

I hope to do an internship in the future with animals.

Senior project:

I have no idea what I want to do for my senior project.

Life on Mount Desert Island:

I love campus, exploring Acadia, and exploring the intertidal on the island.

Activities, traditions, celebrations:

I worked at the Thorndike Library for my Work-study. I helped plan events at the library and plan Cultural Week. I participated in marine mammal and loon necropsies on campus.

Passions & motivations:

Looking for equity in the world not equality.

Adventures yet to come:

I hope to start working more towards my goal of becoming a veterinarian by volunteering and working with animals. My COA goal is to swim in every body of water that it is allowed to swim in and is clean on MDI.

Best meal on campus:

Grilled Cheese and Creamy Tomato Soup

COA might be the right college for you if...
