“With the unprecedented access to inexpensive, powerful imaging tools and virtually free avenues of media distribution,  individuals from all walks have the ways and means to create compelling visual stories outside of the established industry,” Siegel says. “Participants should leave with a stronger sense of how to create a visually compelling story, how to approach the new tools of media production, and how to explore avenues of media distribution, including YouTube, Vimeo, and the film festival circuit.”

Siegel is a film producer and director of photography with a background in commercials, branding, and communications. With offices in Los Angeles and Timbuktu, his company IMAGEWORKS produces spots for Honda, SONY, Toyota, Ford, Audi, MasterCard, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, and Timberland.

In addition to commercial production, Siegel has worked on the WB series Everwood, the CBS drama Joan of Arcadia, the Jerry Bruckheimer series Just Legal, and the CBS series The Mentalist. He is a producer and director of photography with Floating Stone Productions, the documentary film company of Olympia Stone. Stone’s Curious Worlds: The Art of David Beck screened to a full house at College of the Atlantic this summer.

The inaugural Bar Harbor Film Festival takes place Oct. 9-11 at the Abbe Museum. The festival presents a wide range of narrative, documentary, animated, and experimental films. Short and feature length programs represent innovative cinematic works from both established and emerging filmmakers. The weekend includes workshops with filmmakers and other industry professionals.
