Writing Program

College of the Atlantic

The COA Writing Program offers diverse courses that will ignite your passion and push your critical thinking while providing many opportunities for developing your literacy, writing, and research skills. Our courses support students’ interest by anchoring writing and literacy in many other areas of inquiry, such as food, identities, linguistic diversity, research, ethics and philosophy, journalism, literature and graphic novels, social (in)justice, and social action.

We are actively adding more information and if there’s anything missing, feel free to reach out. Useful resources include:

  • The Writing Center, where students can work with tutors to refine your projects, presentations, and professional writing and communication, and information about tutors and how to schedule an appointment
  • The writing requirement, in particular course information and the writing portfolio
  • Other student resources that might be helpful during your time at COA
  • Resources for faculty and staff, including information about how Writing Center services can be integrated into the classroom
  • Publishing and fellowship information
  • FAQ with commonly asked questions and their answers

We look forward to seeing you in our courses and in the Writing Center!

Su Yin Khor, Director of the Writing Program (skhor@coa.edu)
Valeria Tsygankova, Director of the Writing Center (vtsygankova@coa.edu)
