Teaching Support

Thorndike Library
Overview
Thorndike Library staff members are dedicated to developing information proficient students who are able to identify, locate, synthesize, evaluate, and cite information sources. We are eager to support all those teaching within the curricular or co-curricular spheres to promote learning and research skills.
Library Resource Instruction
Library staff offer in class instruction sessions that demonstrate how to navigate library resources including searching Thorncat, OneSearch, and library databases, as well as understanding sources and their credibility. These sessions can be general or tailored to a specific assignment and can include a library tour with breakout sessions with librarians to demonstrate skills.
One-on-one Sessions
Faculty may also ask their students to schedule one-on-one sessions with a librarian outside of the classroom. These sessions allow students to get personalized, in-depth guidance tailored to their specific assignment.
Walk-ins
Library staff offer walk-in research support. All you have to do is stop by a library staff office and ask for help.
Research Guides
Library staff have curated research guides that highlight specific library and online resources to help students find and access materials to support coursework
