COA has four application rounds—make sure you are aware of the deadline for the application round of your choice, along with the dates you can expect to hear from us regarding admission decisions.
-Admission application: November 15 -Financial aid application: TBD -Response to applicants: December 15 -Enrollment deposit: January 10
Early Decision (ED) could be the best option if you’re sure that COA is your top choice. The primary benefit of applying ED is that you will receive notification of our admission decision much earlier than if you apply Regular Decision, and because ED is binding, your enrollment is “locked in”. You may apply ED I or ED II. Both function the same way, but have different deadlines. Feel free to reach out to an admission staff member to determine whether ED I or ED II is the best option for you. Applying ED will not impact your financial aid package.
IMPORTANT: Early Decision is binding. This means if you are accepted as an ED applicant, you are obligated to withdraw your applications from all other colleges. The ED application is made official when you submit our Early Decision Agreement, which you’ll find in your application.
-Admission application: December 1 -Financial aid application: TBD -Response to applicants: late January -Enrollment deposit: May 1
Early Action (EA) is a nonbinding way to get a jump on the college admissions process—it’s simply applying to college early and receiving an early response. It functions like Regular Decision in that you have until May 1, the national decision deadline, to choose which college you will attend, but EA can allow you to hear from your top schools first and then decide whether you want to submit any regular decision applications later. As with all of our application rounds, applying Early Action will not affect your odds of acceptance, or your financial aid package.
-Admission and financial aid applications: January 15 -Response to applicants: January 30 -Enrollment deposit: February 15

*Note: Regular Decision (RD) applications are reviewed and decisions are made after both rounds of Early Decision and Early Action applications have been completed.
Regular Decision is the traditional way to apply to college and is nonbinding. It’s probably your best option if you haven’t yet settled on which college you plan to attend. Please be aware that Regular Decision applicants will not receive admission decisions until spring.
Transfer application deadlines
Transfer applicants may also apply Early Decision using the first-year deadlines. Additionally, first-year students may apply for winter or spring term admission, using the transfer application deadlines. International students are encouraged to apply for fall admission. Students applying for winter or spring term admission may not defer to future terms. Please contact our office for more information.
