General institutional information

Student loan information

  • Assistance available from federal, state, local, and institutional programs: Financial aid may include student loans, work-study, federal grants, state grants, and/or institutional aid.
  • Federal student financial aid penalties for drug law violations
  • Initial loan counseling and exit counseling for student borrowers: COA conducts entrance and exit counseling for Stafford loans in person whenever possible. In cases when it is impractical or impossible, we provide customized forms for students to review.
  • Institutional code of conduct for education loans, preferred lender lists, and preferred lender arrangements: COA has always maintained ethical principles in all financial matters. We do not maintain a preferred private lender list or have arrangements with any preferred private lenders. In our experience we find that the choice of a private lender (for an alternative educational loan) is a highly personalized process and that there is no “one product fits all” solution. We are more than happy to provide general but detailed information so that you can have greater confidence in knowing what things to consider in selecting the lender that is right for you.
