ABOUT
Also known as Dr. Brothers, Tionna got her bachelor’s degree from The University of Maine and her doctorate from Tufts University; studying biochemistry, neuroscience, and genetics. Specializing in genetic and metabolic dysregulation of biological systems leading to disordered eating, and also very interested in astrocytes as an active, not supportive cell type in the brain. Tionna is a life-long Mainer from Orono and with connections at The Jackson Laboratory, she has been a Bar Harbor local of 13 years. Mentorship, ease of access to knowledge, and fostering curiosity are cornerstones of her teaching philosophy. Dr. Brothers is thrilled to continue the legacy of scientific research at COA and is always willing to lend a scientific eye to any student project.
