Organic Chemistry I

This course explores the physical, chemical, and environmental properties of carbon-containing materials such as plastics, solvents, dyes, as well as all living things, and once-living materials. The emphasis is on learning fundamental principles that allow one to understand and to predict the behavior of various types of organic substances. Evaluations are based on problem sets, lab reports, and quizzes. The equivalent of this course is a perquisite for biochemistry.
