College of the Atlantic’s Summer Field Studies (SFS) is a day camp program designed for young people entering first through ninth grades. Learning in small groups of 10-12 lets us foster an atmosphere of community and cooperation. Our staff are qualified place-based educators whose leadership, experience, and knowledge create a safe, fun, caring, and rich space for learning. While making new friends and visiting beautiful areas, SFS participants develop both an understanding and sensitivity toward the natural world around them.

Registration for 2022 is now open.

Health & Safety Considerations

As always, it is our utmost goal to ensure the health and safety of SFS participants, staff, parents, and our wider community. Summer Field Studies programming will adhere to Maine CDC guidelines and COA protocols and will follow the best practices guide put forth by the American Camp Association. As a part of COA’s COVID-19 Response, SFS participants are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. All participants are required to submit proof of vaccination or apply for a medical or religious exemption.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received up to two weeks prior to the session will receive a refund minus the deposit fee (25%). Registrations canceled less than two weeks before the session can only be refunded (minus the deposit fee) if your space is filled by another participant. We may consider cancelling a session if there are less than five participants. If we do cancel a session due to under enrollment, a full refund, including deposit, will be given.

Before and After Care

We are once again offering extended care from 7:30–9 a.m. and 3–5 p.m. This on-campus, supervised care will give children a chance to warm up to the day and wind down after an action-packed day of camp. Sign up for before/after care any time up until the session begins.

After Care: $15/day
